Google Chrome retains absolute leadership in the desktop browser market

Google Chrome remains the most popular desktop browser, dominating the market with a 66.55% share. The closest competitor, Microsoft Edge, lags behind by a huge margin.

According to Statcounter data for February 2025, a slight decrease of 0.21% did not affect Chrome's leadership.

Microsoft Edge's share is 13.9% (+0.11%). In third position is Apple Safari (8.65%, -0.19%). Mozilla Firefox (6.36%, +0.1%) is in fourth place, and Opera is in fifth place (2.91%, -0.01%).

No serious competition for Chrome is expected yet, although rivals are trying to increase their customer base. While Microsoft is using advertising and gimmicks to promote Edge, Mozilla is announcing support for Manifest V2 as a number of other browsers move to Manifest V3, which will provide continued support for extensions like uBlock Origin. Opera, in turn, recently introduced a new version of Air, which takes care of the user’s well-being.
