Central Asian countries join efforts to combat air pollution

On June 19, the first high-level political regional dialogue was held in Tashkent under the theme "Building a future with clean air in Central Asia" jointly organized by the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change of Uzbekistan, the World Bank and the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP).

Representatives of various government agencies of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan participated in the regional dialogue. The event was attended by leading air quality management experts from Asia and Europe.

The aim of the event was to promote coordinated action among countries in the region and exchange knowledge on air pollution prevention.

"Uzbekistan, like other Central Asian countries, is facing problems related to air pollution, and we understand that this problem requires urgent and effective measures. We know the importance of cooperation and exchange of experience in this field, because environmental issues know no borders. I believe that this event will be an effective platform for exchanging knowledge, discussing promising approaches and developing specific measures aimed at improving the quality of air in our countries," said Jusipbek Kazbekov, Deputy Minister of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change of Uzbekistan.
