Kazakhstan plans to increase trade turnover with Afghanistan from $1 billion to $3 billion by developing an alternative route through Turkmenistan. In the report presented by "Trend" it is said that this was announced by Deputy Prime Minister Serik Jumangari.
"Currently, the trade turnover with Afghanistan is about 1 billion dollars. The goal is to reach $3 billion. This cannot be done without logistical preparation. Today, the main road to Afghanistan passes through Uzbekistan. However, an alternative route through Turkmenistan is being developed," Jumangarin said.
The development of the new route through Turkmenistan aims to strengthen trade relations between Kazakhstan and Afghanistan, which will diversify supply chains and, as expected, reduce dependence on current routes. This will open up new opportunities for economic cooperation and development of transport infrastructure in the region.
Why through Turkmenistan?
The selection of Turkmenistan as an alternative destination depends on several conditions:
Strategic location: Turkmenistan is distinguished by its favorable geographical location and becomes a natural transit point between Central Asia and Afghanistan.
Advanced transport infrastructure: Having a modern transport system, including railways, highways, seaports and airports, ensures efficient logistics conditions and reduced delivery times in Turkmenistan.
Sustainable Transport Corridors: Turkmenistan invests in the development and maintenance of transport corridors that ensure the safety and reliability of routes that run through the country.
Economic importance: Using the route through Turkmenistan can reduce transport costs and increase the profitability of trade with Afghanistan.
