On June 7, a meeting was held between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov and the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Iraq Mohammet Bahr Al-Ulum.
During the meeting, the parties exchanged views on the development of cooperation in the political-diplomatic, trade-economic and humanitarian fields.
In this regard, the need to improve the contract-legal framework, to implement promising joint projects in the energy and transport sectors, as well as to develop cooperation in the field of science and education was emphasized. The diplomats exchanged views on the establishment of the Turkmen-Iraqi intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation in order to develop cooperation in various fields.
Important aspects of the international and regional agenda were considered. The diplomats affirmed their commitment to further intensify mutually advantageous and equal cooperation in various bodies, including the UN.
Within the framework of the meeting, there was a signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding on political consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Iraq aimed at creating mechanisms for bilateral relations of mutual interest and exchange of views on issues of the international agenda.
