In the capital of France, Paris, events within the framework of the joint celebration with UNESCO of the 300th anniversary of the birth of Magtymguly Fragi were successfully completed.
This is the first cultural forum of its kind, which brought Turkmenistan’s relations with France to a qualitatively new level, both in a bilateral format and within the framework of authoritative international structures. The importance of cultural exchange as one of the most important aspects of international cooperation was noted in the speeches of representatives of both the Turkmen delegation and international organizations. Among them are Deputy Minister of Culture of Turkmenistan Gurbanmyrat Myradalyev, Deputy Director General of UNESCO Ernesto Ottone Ramirez, Chairman of the UNESCO Executive Board Vera El-Khuri Lakaulyo, Director of the UNESCO World Heritage Center Lazar Elundu Assomo, Director General of TURKSOY Sultan Raev, Ambassador, Permanent Representative of Turkmenistan to UNESCO Maksat Charyev.
Residents and guests of the French capital were able to enjoy a concert by masters of culture and art of Turkmenistan, who perfromed songs based on the words of Magtymguly Fragi, works by outstanding Turkmen composers - Nury Halmammedov, Danatar Ovezov, Nury Mukhadov, classical and pop music. Dance groups presented and performed folklore dance numbers.
The exhibition “Magtymguly Fragi and the cultural heritage of Turkmenistan” was launched at the UNESCO headquarters. Visitors got acquainted with collections of poems by Magtymguly Fragi in various languages of the world, examples of national decorative, applied and artistic arts.
