Starting this year, a new specialization area, defectology, is opening at the Seyitnazar Seydi Turkmen State Pedagogical Institute located in the city of Turkmenabat. This scientific discipline studies the characteristics of education and upbringing of children with various disabilities in physical, intellectual, mental and emotional development. The science includes various areas: correctional pedagogy, rehabilitation, speech therapy and others.

The university has already completed its entrance exams, and among the first-year students are young people from all regions of Turkmenistan, including the cities of Ashgabat and Arkadag, Jeyhun.news reports.

A complex of new buildings for the institute is currently being built, which is planned to be commissioned by September 1, 2026.
