General Director of the Agency of Transport and Communications under the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan M. Chakiyev reported on the results of the work carried out over the last six months of this year. The achievements of the complex are described in detail in the report presented at the meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan held on July 12.

Development of indicators

During the reporting period, the growth rate of work and services performed under this package amounted to 116.8 percent. This indicates the high efficiency and dynamic development of the industry, which has a positive impact on the country’s economy.

Freight and passenger transportation

In the first half of this year, the growth rate of freight transportation by road, rail, air, sea and river transport amounted to 105 percent, and passenger transportation - 103.4 percent.

Agency results

Such results were recorded in the development of agency services in January-June.

agency "Turkmendemiryolar" - 105.1%;

agency "Turkmenavtouglary" - 110%;

agency "Turkmenhovoyalair" - 149.4%;

agency "Turkmendenizderyayollary" - 109.7%;

Agency "Turkmenatragash" - 112.7%.

Growth of the digital economy

The issue of implementing the tasks arising from the “Concept for the development of the digital economy in Turkmenistan for 2019-2025” was also discussed. Together with the United Nations Development Program, relevant activities are being carried out in the field of introducing an interdepartmental electronic information exchange system.

Construction of new buildings

M. Chakiyev also said that the construction of industrial and social facilities related to the transport and communications complex continues in various regions of the country. This includes infrastructure projects and new logistics hubs that promote economic growth and at the same time improve the quality of life of the population.

During the reporting period, a number of meetings of international forums and joint working groups were held.
