The European Union handed over two specialized vehicles to the Canine Unit of Turkmenistan’s State Border Service on August 20. The handover ceremony was attended by EU Ambassador to Turkmenistan Beata Peksa.
The ambassador emphasized the long-standing partnership between the EU and Turkmenistan and reaffirmed the EU’s commitment to joint efforts in border management across Central Asia, the EU Delegation to Turkmenistan reported.
The vehicles were procured with the support of the EU’s BOMCA 10 Program and are expected to enhance the operational capabilities of the canine units in Ashgabat and Mary, as well as strengthen border protection efforts.
BOMCA (Border Management Programme in Central Asia) supports the countries of Central Asia in promoting regional economic development and facilitates trade both within the region and with neighboring countries, as well as between Central Asia and EU member states.
