Turkmen literature holds a special place in shaping the cultural unity of Turkic peoples. The great 18th-century classics, Dovletmammet Azady and Magtymguly Pyragy, laid the foundation for national poetry that continues to inspire modern generations, according to the publication Türküstan.
Their works reflect the values of the people, bridging the past and present, and serve as a vital resource for strengthening national identity. In recent decades, Turkmen writers have increasingly addressed historical and social themes, exploring new forms of expression and reinterpreting the classical heritage.
Experts note that Turkmenistan actively participates in the shared cultural space of Turkic countries. Joint translation projects, literary festivals, and educational initiatives foster expanded cooperation and the exchange of expertise.
International expert Ekber Koshaly emphasized that the development of a unified Turkic literature requires the creation of common textbooks, translation institutions, and anthologies, as well as regular cultural events. Such efforts will strengthen bonds among Turkic peoples and elevate literary cooperation to a new level.
Turkmenistan’s literature not only preserves national heritage but also plays a key role in reinforcing cultural ties within the Turkic world and promoting it on the international stage.
