The Embassy of Malaysia and the Ministry of Culture of Turkmenistan held a presentation on Monday titled “Experience Malaysia Healthcare,” focusing on Malaysia’s healthcare system and the prospects of medical tourism. The event took place at the Ish Nokady Coworking Center, the Arkach Business Center, according to a statement from the Embassy of Malaysia in Turkmenistan.
The presentation was organized in anticipation of Malaysia Year of Medical Tourism (MYMT) 2026 and Visit Malaysia Year (VM) 2026. The slogan of MYMT 2026, “Healing Meets Hospitality,” emphasizes the country’s high-quality medical care and renowned hospitality.
Participants also learned about the VM 2026 campaign, which is promoted under the theme “Malaysia: A Sustainable Destination & Rich in Culture.” The initiative aims to showcase the country’s cultural heritage and natural attractions.
Malaysia’s Ambassador to Turkmenistan, Mohd Suhaimi bin Ahmad Tajuddin, highlighted the country’s unique offering — a combination of advanced medical services and attractive tourism opportunities. He noted the favorable conditions for growing tourism flows, including direct flights between Ashgabat and Kuala Lumpur, and visa-free entry for Turkmen citizens.
Thirty travel agencies from across Turkmenistan attended the event and received detailed information on the benefits of medical tourism in Malaysia, as well as prospects for creating integrated packages that combine treatment with leisure.
The medical tourism sector is developing rapidly and continues to attract patients from around the world due to its high standards of healthcare and modern infrastructure, according to the official Malaysian Healthcare Travel Council (MHTC).
