The National Tourist Zone Awaza will host the Third United Nations Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDC3), which will take place from August 4 to 8. The event is expected to welcome the heads of 32 states, as well as prime ministers, delegations from UN member states, the Secretary-General of the United Nations and his deputies. This was announced during a meeting of the State Organizing Committee on the LLDC3 preparations, held on Sunday under the chairmanship of the National Leader of the Turkmen people and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
Representatives of international and regional organizations, legislative bodies, financial institutions, public associations, and the private sector will also participate in the conference, according to Turkmenistan’s state news agency.
The program includes opening and closing ceremonies, plenary sessions, five thematic round tables, and seven high-level forums. Among them are a ministerial meeting on South–South cooperation, a parliamentary forum, business and youth meetings, events for women leaders and civil society, as well as a panel on connectivity. In addition, side events organized by participating countries and international organizations will address sustainable transport, energy, youth policy, and the circular economy.
The conference venues will also host thematic exhibitions, including ones organized by the Turkmen side. National Days of Central Asian states, cultural performances, and a gala concert featuring cultural and artistic figures will be held. An official reception on behalf of the Government of Turkmenistan is also planned.
Participants of the meeting also reviewed the progress of organizational preparations for the forum. They discussed the completion of construction and renovation work, delegation accommodation, logistics, medical and food services, as well as city decoration.
The National Leader of the Turkmen people then inspected samples of uniforms for volunteers and the design of passenger buses that will be used during the conference.
