Initiative on Mutual Travel Adopted at Astana Summit

An initiative to create favorable conditions for mutual travel between citizens was adopted following the “Central Asia–China” summit held Tuesday in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan, according to Turkmenistan’s official media.

The summit, held at the Palace of Independence, was attended by President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping, as well as the leaders of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.

The summit agenda covered a wide range of issues aimed at strengthening multilateral cooperation. Key priorities included expanding political dialogue, deepening trade and economic ties, developing transit routes, and advancing cooperation in energy and innovation. Special attention was given to ensuring regional security.

During the event, it was also announced that an agreement was signed establishing sister-region relations between the administration of Turkmenistan’s Ahal Velayat and the People’s Government of China’s Shaanxi Province.

Several documents were signed following the second “Central Asia–China” summit.
