Scientists from the Institute of Chemistry of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan have unveiled a new technology for producing synthetic insulation (sintepon) from plastic waste, including used plastic bottles. The innovation offers new opportunities for environmentally friendly textile production and recycling, as reported by Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper on Wednesday.
The development was showcased at a scientific-practical conference focused on the advancement of the country’s textile industry, where participants also discussed the intersection of chemical science and textile manufacturing.
Researchers from the Institute of Chemistry were joined by faculty from Makhtumkuli Turkmen State University, S.A. Niyazov Turkmen Agricultural University, the International Oil and Gas University, and the Institute of Engineering and Transport Communications.
More than 100 samples of domestic chemical industry products were exhibited, including fertilizers, solvents, medical-grade paraffin, and raw materials for greenhouse farming. Experts also highlighted ongoing research into the mineral-rich Garabogaz Bay, home to valuable elements such as lithium and boron.
Speakers emphasized that the integration of scientific research with industrial production enhances both the environmental safety and global competitiveness of Turkmenistan’s textile sector.
