A total of 2,844 pilgrims from Turkmenistan will travel to Saudi Arabia this year to perform the Hajj, the Islamic pilgrimage to the holy sites in Mecca and Medina, as reported by Türkmenistan newspaper on Wednesday.
According to the Office of the Mufti, 289 pilgrims will make the journey at the government’s expense, while the remaining 2,555 will cover the cost individually.
The pilgrims, representing all regions of the country including Ashgabat, have been divided into eight groups and will travel according to an approved schedule. During the pilgrimage, they will visit Islam’s holiest sites — including Al-Haram Mosque, the Zamzam Well, and the Kaaba — and later proceed to Medina to visit the Prophet’s Mosque and other religious landmarks.
The Hajj coincides with the holy days of Eid al-Adha (Kurban Bayram), during which Turkmen pilgrims will join millions of Muslims worldwide in prayers for national prosperity, unity, and the well-being of the country’s leadership.
Participants have expressed gratitude for the favorable conditions arranged for fulfilling their religious duty. Special flights have been organized, with medical support and all essential amenities provided.
The annual participation of thousands of Turkmen pilgrims in Hajj reflects the nation’s spiritual continuity and the state’s ongoing commitment to preserving religious and cultural values.
