Turkmenistan is introducing modern technologies for monitoring land resources to prevent their degradation and ensure sustainable development of agriculture. The country actively uses GIS technologies for remote monitoring of the state of pastures, soil salinization processes and the quality of crop vegetation, the Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper reports.
The greening program plays a significant role in land protection - three million tree seedlings are planted in the country every year. These measures are aimed at improving soil quality and preventing desertification processes.
Particular attention is paid to the scientific approach to land use. Specialists from the National Institute of Deserts, Flora and Fauna, together with international experts, are developing models for the long-term use of lands of various categories based on the principles of environmental sustainability.
