Pakistan has started negotiations with Turkmenistan on the import of 200,000 tons of urea under the direct intergovernmental agreement in order to meet the growing domestic demand for fertilizers. This was confirmed by a senior Pakistani official in an interview with The News International on Thursday.
This initiative is part of the country's broader strategy to ensure a sustainable supply of urea for Pakistan's agricultural sector. The goal of the negotiations between the two countries is to ensure stable delivery of this important raw material from Turkmenistan.
The visit of the Pakistani delegation to Turkmenistan was announced at a meeting held on Thursday between the Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Pakistan, Atajan Movlamov, and the Federal Minister of Industry and Production of Pakistan, Rana Tanvir Hussain. During the meeting, the parties discussed the strategy of strengthening economic relations between the two countries.
A high-level delegation headed by Pakistan's Federal Minister for Industries and Production Rana Tanvir Hussain will visit Turkmenistan from June 24 to 26 this year to explore new opportunities for bilateral trade and investment.
