Turkmenistan Establishes Organizing Committee for Upcoming Halk Maslahaty Meeting

An Organizing Committee has been established in Turkmenistan to prepare for the upcoming session of the Halk Maslahaty (People’s Council), scheduled to take place on September 19, 2025, at the Maslahat Köşgi Palace in Ashgabat. The corresponding resolution was signed by the National Leader of the Turkmen people and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, during a meeting of the Presidium of the Halk Maslahaty held on Wednesday.

The upcoming session will be held in a ceremonial setting as part of nationwide celebrations marking the 34th anniversary of the country’s independence and the 30th anniversary of its permanent neutrality, according to Turkmenistan’s official media

In preparation for the event, the National Leader emphasized the importance of providing organizational and methodological guidance to the Halk Maslahaty structures at the provincial (velayat), district (etrap), and city levels; reviewing and organizing citizen proposals and other submissions; and developing the official program and media coverage materials for the session.

The meeting will serve as a significant platform to discuss key areas of Turkmenistan’s socio-economic development, legislative improvements, and the implementation of state programs. The agenda will include issues related to strengthening the country’s independence and neutrality, as well as initiatives aimed at improving citizens' quality of life.

Special attention will also be given to preparations for anniversary events dedicated to the International Year of Peace and Trust and the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s neutral status. In this regard, the Organizing Committee has been tasked with arranging cultural and public events to highlight the importance of these milestones.

The Presidium meeting was attended by members of the Halk Maslahaty, the Chairperson of the Mejlis, Deputy Chairpersons of the Cabinet of Ministers, representatives of political parties, public organizations, and the media. As a result, a resolution was adopted to convene the session and approve the composition of the Organizing Committee.

The Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan is the country’s highest representative body, operating in accordance with the Constitution and Constitutional Law of Turkmenistan, and representing the interests of the Turkmen people.
