On June 10-11, the President of the Republic of Korea, Mr. Yun Seok-yol, will pay a state visit to Turkmenistan. This visit is the first state visit of the President of the Republic of Korea to our country in five years after 2019.

The official visit of the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the People's Council of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to the Republic of Korea in November 2022 was a clear testimony of the activation of high-level relations that help to further deepen and develop mutually beneficial cooperation.

The Republic of Korea stands out among East Asian countries for its rapid economic growth. It has become one of the economically developed countries in the world's top ten trading countries in a short period of time. This country is home to the world's leading enterprises engaged in the production of semiconductors and batteries, shipbuilding, machine building, and other areas of industry. Today, Korean culture is also gaining wide international recognition.

The special relations between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Korea go back to ancient times and are characterized by mutual historical exchanges. As a transport and logistics center in the Eurasian climate, Turkmenistan has all the opportunities to cooperate with South Korea in important areas for future development, such as investments, technologies and infrastructure.

Currently, a number of Korean companies are involved in the implementation of infrastructure projects in Turkmenistan, including development of gas fields, construction of industrial enterprises. Other companies in the country are also interested in participating in such projects. The Turkmen side is confident that this visit will open up additional opportunities for the development of business cooperation between the two countries.

In the current conditions of the international situation, many opportunities are opening up for the Turkmen and Korean sides, including opportunities related to "green" development and digital reforms. Today, more than ever, the need for solidarity and cooperation is felt first and foremost in order to transform the visions of the times into new opportunities. Accordingly, it is planned to discuss issues aimed at the further development of Turkmenistan and the Republic of Korea during the visit of Mr. President Yun Seok-yol. In particular, it is intended to look at such important and promising areas as energy, "smart" cities.

Since his inauguration as the President of the Republic of Korea, Mr. Yoon Seok-yol has taken an active role in promoting peace and prosperity on Earth with the aim of turning South Korea into a "major global state". Under the chairmanship of Mr. Yoon Seok-yol, the second world summit on artificial intelligence was held in Seoul in May this year, and last week the "Republic of Korea-Africa" ​​summit was held.

According to the Resolution adopted by the UN General Assembly on March 21, 2024, 2025 was declared the "Year of International Peace and Trust". In this regard, it should be noted that Turkmenistan and the Republic of Korea are committed to joint efforts within the framework of the international community, recognizing that the problems of Turkmenistan and the Republic of Korea should be resolved through peaceful, diplomatic means.

Turkmenistan cordially welcomes the state visit of the President of the Republic of Korea, Mr. Yoon Seok-yol. In this regard, the Turkmen side expresses deep confidence that this visit will contribute to the further expansion of cooperation between the two countries, as well as between the Republic of Korea and the Central Asian region.
