Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Ahmet Gurbanov held a phone conversation on June 24 with UK Minister of State for Europe, North America, and the Overseas Territories Stephen Doughty, according to Turkmenistan’s Foreign Ministry.
During the call, the UK expressed gratitude to Turkmenistan’s leadership for facilitating the evacuation of British citizens from Iran. The assistance was made possible due to Turkmenistan’s neutral stance and humanitarian approach to developments in the Middle East.
The two officials discussed the current state and future prospects of bilateral cooperation, particularly in the trade, economic, and political-diplomatic spheres. They noted positively the participation of British companies in the “Investing in the Future of Turkmenistan” International Investment Forum (IFT-2025), held in March in Ashgabat.
The conversation also covered regional issues and upcoming bilateral and multilateral events scheduled for the second half of 2025. Both sides emphasized the importance of maintaining a consistent dialogue between their foreign ministries.
The UK side concluded the call by reiterating its appreciation for Turkmenistan’s humanitarian support.
