Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Iran Sign Protocol to Enhance Europe Rail Corridor

Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and Iran have signed a protocol to expand cooperation on the development of a multimodal transport corridor connecting Central Asia to Europe, as reported by Turkmenistan’s official media on Monday.

The agreement was reached during high-level trilateral talks held on the sidelines of the 82nd session of the Council for Railway Transport of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) member states.

The discussions focused on increasing freight volumes and improving the efficiency of logistics chains along the Uzbekistan–Turkmenistan–Iran route. The parties explored ways to streamline operations, harmonize procedures, and remove barriers to facilitate the smooth movement of goods.

According to report, enhanced activity along the corridor is expected to significantly boost trade between the participating countries and Europe, offering an efficient and competitive alternative to existing logistics routes.
