Turkmenistan is celebrating Eid al-Adha, known locally as Kurban Bayramy, with ceremonies and prayers taking place across the capital Ashgabat and all regions of the country, as reported by Turkmenistan’s state news agency on Friday.

Turkmenistan’s President Serdar Berdimuhamedov extended heartfelt congratulations to the Turkmen people, calling the holiday a celebration that enriches universal human values and strengthens high moral ideals.

“This year, marked by the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s neutrality, thousands of our citizens have traveled to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to perform the Hajj pilgrimage at the Holy Kaaba in Mecca and the Prophet’s Mosque in Medina,” the president said in his message.

National Leader of the Turkmen People and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov also congratulated President Berdimuhamedov on the occasion, describing the sacred holiday as a symbol of spiritual unity, solidarity, and noble aspirations.

On the first day of Eid, festive prayers were held in mosques across the country, accompanied by public celebrations and gatherings.

President Berdimuhamedov signed a decree declaring June 6, 7, and 8 as official holiday dates for Kurban Bayramy, with June 9 designated as a day off in lieu of the Saturday holiday.
