International scientific and practical conference “Current solutions to water transport problems” was held in Astrakhan

On May 29, 2025, the Caspian Institute of Maritime and River Transport named after General Admiral F.M.Apraksin hosted an international scientific and practical conference dedicated to current solutions to water transport problems and the effective implementation of the North-South transport corridor.

The conference was attended by the Consul of Turkmenistan Gadam Ilamanov, Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Astrakhan Region Ilya Volynsky and Deputy Minister of Foreign Relations of the Astrakhan Region Ilya Toropitsyn, as well as the representatives of diplomatic missions of the littoral states.

The conference discussed the role of water transport as a key link in the formation of sustainable logistics infrastructure between the countries of the Caspian region.

In his speech, the Consul of Turkmenistan outlined the importance of integrating national infrastructure into international logistics chains. He also noted that systematic work is being carried out in Turkmenistan to improve transport connectivity with neighboring countries and increase the capacity of key hubs, including the Turkmenbashi seaport, which is becoming an important hub on the North-South route.

The event became a significant step in the development of international cooperation and demonstrated a common desire to create an effective, sustainable and mutually beneficial transport system in the Eurasian space.
