Turkmenistan Strengthens Role as Reliable Transit Bridge Asia-Europe

Turkmenistan is enhancing its position as a key transit hub between Asia and Europe through comprehensive efforts to improve regional transport corridors, according to a study by the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) conducted in October-November 2024, as reported by Turkmenistan’s state news agency on Saturday.

The study reveals that the average time for goods to pass through Turkmenistan’s border is 50 minutes, the shortest in Central Asia. In comparison, Kazakhstan takes 2 hours 26 minutes, Tajikistan 1 hour 50 minutes, Kyrgyzstan 1 hour 28 minutes, and Uzbekistan 1 hour 25 minutes.

According to report, this achievement is attributed to the active implementation of digital technologies by Turkmenistan’s State Customs Service, which aims to streamline and harmonize customs procedures.

These figures underscore Turkmenistan's growing role as a reliable transit bridge, with the State Customs Service playing a crucial role in this strategic process.
