President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov held meetings in Ashgabat with high-ranking participants of the first Ministerial Forum on Sustainable Development of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), taking place in Arkadag, according to State news agency of Turkmenistan. 

The head of state met with the ECO Secretary General Asad Majid Khan, the Vice President and Head of the Planning and Budget Organization of the Islamic Republic of Iran Seyed Hamid Pourmohammadi, the Deputy Prime Minister and Chief of Staff of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan Galymzhan Koishybayev, the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan Achilbay Ramatov, and the Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives of Pakistan Ahsan Iqbal.

During the meetings, current issues of bilateral and regional cooperation were discussed. Particular attention was paid to strengthening friendship, good neighborliness, and strategic partnership. The parties confirmed their mutual interest in expanding trade and economic ties, developing the energy, transport, and logistics sectors, and deepening cultural and humanitarian exchanges.

The President of Turkmenistan and his interlocutors emphasized the importance of implementing joint projects, including the construction of the TAPI gas pipeline and the development of new transport corridors. At the end of the meetings, participants exchanged warm wishes to the leadership and peoples of their respective countries, expressing confidence in the successful future development of mutually beneficial relations.

The guests highly praised the organization level of the ECO Forum and expressed admiration for Turkmenistan’s modern achievements.
