From April 25 to 26, 2025, a delegation of Turkmenistan headed by the Minister of Culture of Turkmenistan Atageldi Shamyradov visited the city of Erzurum of the Republic of Turkiye to participate in the 6th Ministerial Meeting of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) on Tourism.The agenda of the meeting included important issues aimed at developing and strengthening cooperation in the tourism sector between ECO member countries.In his speech at the meeting the Minister of Culture of Turkmenistan noted that tourism is of strategic importance for Turkmenistan, which has key resources: unique natural potential with favorable ecology and rich spiritual and cultural heritage, the preservation of which the state pays priority attention to.During the visit, the Minister of Culture of Turkmenistan held a number of bilateral meetings with the Secretary General of the ECO Asad Majid, the Minister of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts of the Islamic Republic of Iran Seyed Reza Salehi Amiri and the Minister of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Turkiye Mehmet Nuri Ersoy. During the meetings, the current state and prospects for the development of cooperation in the field of tourism, which meets mutual interests, were discussed.
