Turkmenistan and Japan Sign Bilateral Agreements

During the official visit of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov to Japan, a series of significant bilateral agreements were signed to advance cooperation between the two countries, according to Turkmenistan’s official media on Tuesday.

The signed documents include several framework agreements, memoranda of understanding, and supplementary accords, covering areas such as energy, chemical industry, construction, and education.

A key agreement was the Framework Agreement between the State Concern Türkmenhimiýa and a consortium of Japanese and Turkish companies, including Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd., Itochu Corporation, and Rönesans Endüstri Tesisleri, for the design and construction of a second gas-to-gasoline plant in Ahal velayat.

Additional agreements include plans for the construction of a urea plant in Kiyanly and the major overhaul of the Kiyanly polymer plant, with the participation of Japanese companies Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. and Toyo Engineering Corporation.

In addition to these agreements, memorandums of understanding and cooperation were signed between various Turkmen and Japanese institutions, including the Ministry of Energy of Turkmenistan and the Engineering and Technology University, to boost cooperation in education and technological innovation.

According to the report, the newly signed agreements aim to further deepen bilateral relations, promoting joint initiatives in energy, innovation, construction, and education.
