Turkmenistan Hosts 44 Investment Projects with Japanese Participation

Turkmenistan is currently implementing 44 investment projects with the participation of Japanese companies, with a total value exceeding $11 billion, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov announced during a meeting with representatives of Japan’s business community on Tuesday.

In addition, projects worth approximately €256 million and nearly ¥190 billion are also being carried out, according to official Turkmen media.

The Japanese delegation included senior representatives of the Turkmen-Japanese Economic Committee and major corporations such as Mitsubishi Corporation, Sumitomo Corporation, Komatsu Ltd., Toyo Engineering Corporation, Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd., Sanko Seika Co. Ltd., Muroosystems Corporation, Tokyo Boeki Eurasia Limited, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd., Sumitomo Heavy Industries Ltd., Tohkemy Corporation and Itochu Corporation.

Japanese companies have been implementing large-scale projects in Turkmenistan for many years, earning a reputation as reliable and trusted partners. Key areas of cooperation include the gas and petrochemical industries, the transport and communications sector, agriculture, and the introduction of advanced technologies.

President Berdimuhamedov emphasized that Turkmenistan is steadily modernizing its industrial sector, accelerating the transition to a green economy, diversifying its energy sources, and expanding international transport connectivity. These areas, he noted, offer broad opportunities for Japanese business participation.

Among the core factors enhancing Turkmenistan’s investment appeal, the President cited political stability, sustained economic growth, a rich natural resource base, support for innovation, and a favorable business environment.

In conclusion, Turkmen President expressed gratitude to the Japanese side for organizing the meeting and wished all participants fruitful and productive cooperation.
