The President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, welcomed the European Commissioner for International Cooperation, Jozef Síkela, in Ashgabat on Wednesday, as reported by the official media of Turkmenistan.
During their meeting, the two leaders discussed the current state of cooperation in the scientific, environmental, and energy sectors, as well as the development of transport corridors. They focused on the "Central Asia–European Union" project, which they agreed significantly contributes to deepening comprehensive relations.
As they discussed transport infrastructure, they noted that Turkmenistan actively develops promising transport corridors, including North-South and East-West.
President of Turkmenistan emphasized the importance of the International Seaport of Turkmenbashy, highlighting how its capabilities reduce the route and transportation time for large cargoes.
Head of the state also pointed out that the port creates favorable conditions for accessing markets in the Black Sea region, Europe, the Middle East, South Asia, and the Asia-Pacific region. The participants expressed confidence that the port would become a reliable link for developing trade and economic relations in the Eurasian space.
In conclusion, President of Turkmenistan and Síkela confirmed their mutual interest in further developing their mutually beneficial partnership.
