On February 27, 2025, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov met with a delegation of Euronews media company headed by Chairman of the Board of Directors Pedro Vargas David, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

During the meeting, the sides noted the positive experience of cooperation between Turkmenistan and Euronews, as well as spoke for the development of the partnership on a systematic basis.

New formats of interaction were considered, including raising public awareness of Turkmenistan’s potential in the field of culture, sports, tourism, its initiatives in the field of sustainable development, ecology, transportation and green energy.

Particular attention was paid to the activities of international importance to be carried out in Turkmenistan during the current year, which according to the UN General Assembly resolution was declared as the “International Year of Peace and Trust” upon the initiative of Turkmenistan.

In this regard, the importance of Turkmenistan’s policy of positive neutrality, the 30th anniversary of which the country is honoring this year, was highlighted.

The sides discussed the possibility of establishing new forms of cooperation through the development of relevant documents, which will reflect such areas as improving the qualifications of Turkmen journalists and cooperation between Euronews and local TV channels.      

In addition, the sides viewed the prospects of accrediting Euronews journalists in Turkmenistan with the subsequent opening of a correspondent office in Ashgabat.
