On February 24-25, 2025, a delegation led by the Minister of Education of Turkmenistan Jumamyrad Gurbangeldiyev paid a working visit to Ankara.
The main purpose of the visit was to participate in the fourth meeting of the Council for Cooperation in Education between Turkmenistan and Türkiye, which took place on February 25 at the building of the Ministry of National Education of the Republic of Türkiye.
The delegations were headed by the Minister of Education of Turkmenistan J. Gurbangeldiyev and the Minister of National Education of Türkiye Y. Tekin.
During the meeting, the sides discussed the current state and prospects of partnership in the field of education, noting the positive experience of interaction between higher educational institutions of the two countries.
To strengthen ties between secondary and specialized educational institutions, the sides agreed to organize meetings and seminars at the appropriate levels, as well as to facilitate the exchange of best practices in the development of modern curricula and teaching methods.
In addition, as part of the visit of the Turkmen delegation, a meeting with the Chairman of the Council of Higher Education of Türkiye Erol Ozvar took place at the building of the Council of Higher Education of Türkiye (YÖK).
At this meeting, the parties discussed opportunities for increasing cooperation in the field of science and education, including issues of reforming the higher education system, organizing short-term courses for Turkmen students and teachers, joint scientific research and publication of scientific articles.
The parties expressed interest in organizing mutual visits and holding joint conferences, seminars and workshops at higher educational institutions of Turkmenistan and Türkiye. Issues related to the education of Turkmen students in universities of the Republic of Türkiye were also considered.
