Opportunities for developing Turkmen-Japanese trade and economic relations discussed in Tokyo

During the period of February 17-19, 2025, a working visit of the Turkmen delegation headed by Chairman of the Board of the State Bank for Foreign Economic Affairs of Turkmenistan R.Jepbarov to Tokyo, Japan took place. The News Service of Diplomatic Missions of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs informs about this.

Meeting was held between R.Jepbarov and Special Advisor to the Prime Minister of Japan A.Nagashima.

During the talks, present issues of bilateral Turkmen-Japanese trade-economic cooperation were discussed, which is currently successfully developing on a wide range.

In addition, the Turkmen delegation met with member of the House of Representatives of the Japanese Parliament, Chairman of the Japanese-Turkmen Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group T.Endo.

The parties exchanged views on the events planned to be held with the participation of the two countries. In this regard, special attention was paid to the participation of the Turkmen delegation in the World Expo 2025, which will be held in Osaka, and issues related to the arrangement of the National Day of Turkmenistan within its framework.

Touching upon trade-economic cooperation, which is one of the important areas of Turkmen-Japanese relations, the parties noted that Turkmenistan and large Japanese companies have accumulated many years of experience in various fields, including transport, gas and chemical industries.

Negotiations also took place between R.Jepbarov and the Chairman of the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) N.Hayashi.

New areas of financial and economic cooperation were discussed. The role of Japanese experience in the field of high technologies in the economy and financial sector of Turkmenistan was emphasized, as well as large-scale projects that will be implemented in the near future in order to develop cooperation between the two countries in the petrochemical, energy and other areas.

During the visit, a meeting was held with the Vice Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan T. Matsuo. Issues of developing cooperation in the sphere of economy and industry were discussed.

In this regard, the importance of further cooperation at a new level on the use of Japanese technologies for the implementation of large-scale projects in the economy of Turkmenistan, as well as the expansion of trade and economic cooperation between the two countries was noted.

Another meeting of members of the Turkmen delegation with the Chairman of NEXI A. Kuroda was held at the Japan Agency for Export and Investment Insurance (NEXI).

During the meeting, new opportunities for cooperation were discussed, including NEXI's work to attract various financial institutions to finance projects in Turkmenistan.

During the visit, the Turkmen delegation also held meetings with the leadership of Itochu Corporation, Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Mitsubishi Corporation and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries.
