On February 10, 2025, a meeting was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan between Deputy Foreign Minister Ahmet Gurbanov and the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Guatemala to Turkmenistan (resident in Ankara), Eduardo Enrique Hernandez Recinos, who presented copies of his credentials.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Ahmet Gurbanov congratulated the Ambassador on his appointment to a responsible position and expressed the readiness of the Turkmen side to provide assistance and support in the implementation of his diplomatic activities.

During the meeting, the diplomat was familiarized with the key vectors of Turkmenistan's peaceful foreign policy. The Turkmen side emphasized the UN General Assembly Resolution on the proclamation of 2025 as the "International Year of Peace and Trust" at the initiative of Turkmenistan. In this regard, the topic of the Guatemalan side's participation in the planned events within the framework of the International Year of Peace and Trust was touched upon.

The parties exchanged views on the prospects of cooperation in the political, economic and cultural-humanitarian spheres. The importance of establishing inter-parliamentary contacts was noted.

During the discussion of cooperation in a number of promising areas, the commitment of Turkmenistan and Guatemala to a constructive dialogue in bilateral and multilateral formats, including through international organizations, was emphasized.

At the end of the meeting, the plenipotentiary representative of Guatemala assured that he would make every effort to develop bilateral relations.
