Turkmen gas may be sent to Turkey next year

Turkey plans to start importing Turkmen gas through Iran and Azerbaijan next year. Alparslan Bayraktar, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of Turkey, announced this in his speech before the country's media representatives.

- At the preliminary stage, we are working on the delivery of up to 2 billion cubic meters of Turkmen gas to Turkey through Iran and Azerbaijan. In this regard, there is no need for additional large investments in infrastructure. However, the next phase of infrastructure development will require a new pipeline, including gas compressor stations. Then this gas can be sent to the European market - the minister said.

Alparslan Bayraktar noted that there is no problem with Azerbaijan in this matter and expressed hope that gas supply will be established next year if Iran also joins the cooperation.
