The Russian Federation will launch a new container train service from the Ulyanovsk region to Turkmenistan. It will bring the cargo of the region to the market of Turkmenistan and other countries of Central Asia. This was reported by TASS, referring to the words of the governor of the Ulyanovsk region, Alexei Russky.
"Together with the representatives of the railway authorities of Turkmenistan, we discussed the establishment of a new container train on the route Ulyanovsk - Ashgabat - Inche-Burun/Sarahs. Russian goods will be quickly delivered to Turkmenistan and neighboring countries - Afghanistan, Iran, Pakistan along the route of the eastern railway crossing along the "Middle Volga - Caspian Sea - Persian Gulf" transport corridor, says Alexey Russkikh.
A. Russkih noted that the representatives of the Ulyanovsk region met with the main logistics operators and forwarders regarding the transportation of the new container train.
"We agreed to approve the terms of the new traffic, development of the road map and coordination of activities, as well as to unify the route using the railway and sea terminals of Turkmenbashi port," he added.
According to the governor, an agreement has already been reached to implement the initiative to establish a direct service of a new container train. This will significantly reduce the time and cost of transportation of goods in this area.
