The Institute of Engineering and Transport Communications of Turkmenistan, which prepares high-level engineers and technologists for transport, housing and community systems, operates scientific departments in the country. The main goal of his work is to increase scientific and innovative activity in the institute. The scientific department acts as a coordinating body for the planning, organization and implementation of scientific work in the departments and other departments of the institute.

Work organization consists of several tasks. In accordance with them, the relevant department implements measures to improve the quality of research activities at the institute, to organize the implementation of fundamental, practical and experimental research activities. As it was mentioned in the news, research works on 12 topics registered in the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan are being conducted on the initiative of the departments of the Institute of Engineering and Transport Communications. They are related to digital economy, transport communication system, transport infrastructure, transport logistics, environment, hydrogen energy, electric power sector and others.

Organization of training and retraining of specialists for the branches of the economy, carrying out scientific research, methodological work, conducting scientific work related to production were established in the transport and logistics scientific center of the institute. Also, in the scientific center, professors and students perform research works on a contractual basis and earn financial income.

In the center, the research and development works were carried out on a contractual basis with the "Turkmendemiryollary" agency of the Transport and Communications Agency under the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan and the open-ended joint-stock company "Demiryollary" and were put into production.

In 2022, the Institute of Engineering and Transport Communications of Turkmenistan was included in the "UI GreenMetric" list of the World University Ranking. According to the results of the year 2023, it managed to move to the top of this list. At the same time, the Institute of Engineering and Transport Communications was included in the "Times Higher Education" ranking of international universities, and was accepted as a member of the Association of Technical Universities.
