On June 25, the Honorable President Serdar Berdimuhamedov received the Minister of Economy of the United Arab Emirates Abdulla bin Tuq Al-Marri, who came to the Turkmen capital to participate in the "Turkmenistan-UAE" business conference.
Expressing gratitude for the opportunity to meet with the guest, the President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, conveyed his warm greetings to the Turkmen leader. As mentioned, the UAE attaches great importance to enhancing fruitful relations with fraternal Turkmenistan. Those relations are based on common historical roots and mutually advantageous cooperation.
Thanking for the kind words, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov expressed his sincere greetings and best wishes to the leader of the friendly country and noted that the United Arab Emirates is a reliable and long-term partner of our country. At the same time, it was emphasized that interstate relations are continuously developed based on the principles of mutual respect and mutual support.
The Turkmen-Emirates business forum being held in Ashgabat will contribute to the strengthening of relations between the two countries and their expansion in new directions, the Turkmen leader said, and took advantage of the opportunity to wish the visit and the business forum a success.
During the discussion of the prospects of multilateral cooperation, the President of the Republic of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the guest noted with satisfaction that the relations between Turkmenistan and the UAE have been developing rapidly in recent years. Particular attention was paid to the active character of political dialogue and cooperation within the United Nations. Support for each other's initiatives to ensure peace, stability and development in the international space is a clear testimony to this.
During the meeting, it was noted that indicators of bilateral trade turnover are increasing every year. It was said that it is necessary to maintain harmonious relations between government agencies, create favorable trade conditions, and hold mutual forums and consultations in order to increase trade turnover. In this regard, the Turkmen leader expressed his firm belief that the Turkmen-Emirates business forum will promote the development of trade relations and the establishment of effective cooperation between the private sector.
The fuel and energy complex was listed among the promising areas. In this regard, positive experience has been gained in doing business together with the leading companies of the UAE. Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov said that Turkmenistan, which has huge reserves of hydrocarbon resources, is ready to expand cooperation in this field, taking into account the goals of developing its rich oil and gas resources through diversification.
As noted by the Minister of Economy of the friendly country, business groups of the UAE are interested in working in the promising Turkmen market. The Turkmen leader invited the interested companies of the Emirates to participate in major international energy projects implemented by Turkmenistan and noted that he supports the use of investment opportunities.
Renewable and "green" energy systems were also highlighted as new areas of cooperation. In this regard, it is advisable to develop the ongoing cooperation and implement new projects together.
Special attention was paid to the strategic importance of international transit corridors for both countries. In view of this, it was emphasized the need to continue cooperation in creating a multimodal transport system, including sea, rail and air.
At the end of the meeting, the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the Minister of Economy of the UAE expressed confidence that the traditional friendly intergovernmental relations based on the principles of openness will be further successfully developed for the benefit of the peoples of the two countries and will be enriched with new meaning.
