President of Turkmenistan Attends Commissioning Ceremony of New Dry Cargo Ship "Gadamly"

On May 8, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, during a working visit to the Balkan velayat, attended a solemn ceremony marking the commencement of operations for the new dry cargo vessel "Gadamly."

The modern ship was fully constructed at the "Balkan" Shipbuilding and Repair Yard in the city of Turkmenbashi. This project, implemented in cooperation with Korean partners, represents a significant milestone in strengthening the material and technical foundation of the national maritime fleet and elevating the country's shipbuilding industry to new heights.

In his speech at the ceremony, the Head of State emphasized that during the Era of the Revival of the New Epoch of the Powerful State, Turkmenistan is consistently transforming into a major regional logistics hub.

The development of a sovereign fleet is central to the strategy of reviving the Great Silk Road and advancing the "East–West" and "North–South" strategic corridors. President Serdar Berdimuhamedov also noted that Turkmenistan plays a leading role in actively promoting transport diplomacy within the framework of the United Nations.

The "Gadamly" dry cargo ship has a carrying capacity of 6,100 tons and is equipped with advanced technologies capable of transporting 240 standard containers. The ship's technical specifications fully comply with international standards, as confirmed by specialized certifications.

The commissioning of this vessel will help increase the volume of transit and domestic cargo transportation handled through the Turkmenbashi International Seaport.

At the conclusion of his address, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov announced that another identical vessel, named "Menzil," will be commissioned by the end of this year.

These new cargo ships will ensure regular maritime links between the Caspian littoral states, fostering the dynamic growth of the national economy and expanding international cooperation in the Caspian region.
