On February 16, 2026, the opening ceremony of the High-Level Dialogue on Global Health Diplomacy, organized by the Government of Turkmenistan jointly with the WHO, took place at the Yyldyz Hotel. The forum aims to create a unified platform for coordinating countries’ efforts on collective security and sustainable healthcare development.The event featured speeches from heads and representatives of government agencies from Turkmenistan, the United Nations, the World Health Organization, the Commonwealth of Independent States, as well as relevant agencies from Central Asian countries and Armenia. The presentations focused on collective security, healthcare development, experience sharing, and the training of medical specialists.Speaking at the event, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan M.Byashimova emphasized that the Dialogue is taking place during a special period for the country – the year of Turkmenistan’s chairmanship of the CIS, declared the Year of Health in the Commonwealth. This reflects Turkmenistan’s strategic priority of strengthening public health as the foundation for sustainable development, social stability and trust between states.Participants also noted the symbolic significance of holding the regional dialogue in Ashgabat, emphasizing that Turkmenistan consistently supports cooperation between Central Asian countries and active engagement with the WHO to develop the region’s healthcare system.During the discussions, it was noted that this format will create a unique platform for building trust, exchanging experiences and developing new partnerships between CIS countries, the WHO European Region, and other international partners.
