May 2024: Based on the foreign policy initiatives of the President of Turkmenistan

Expanding the mutually advantageous cooperation of Turkmenistan with foreign countries was the main issue discussed at numerous events held last month - political consultations, business talks, consultations, educational conferences organized through digital networks, exhibitions, and cultural events. All of these are clear indicators of the effective work of ministries and departmental administrations in the successful implementation of the "Open Doors" policy under the leadership of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov.

On May 3, the first meeting of the "Turkmenistan-United Nations Organization" strategic advisory board was held in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. During it, the work to be done on the development of the "Framework program of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the UN in the field of sustainable development for 2026-2030" was discussed, as well as youth policy, digitalization, demography, "green" energy, climate change. 8 projects were considered in the following areas. According to the results of the meeting, several documents related to environmental protection, health care, and agriculture were signed.

On May 7, at the meeting with the head of the Turkmen-Austrian community Neda Berger at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it was noted that the joint relations in the cultural system are at a high level. The Vienna Ball and the concerts of the Turkmen-Austrian symphony orchestra "Galkynysh", which are regularly held in Turkmenistan, can be cited as clear examples of cultural dialogue. The interlocutors also discussed the issues related to the Austrian side's participation in the celebrations dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the birth of the great Turkmen poet Magtymguly Pyragy.

On May 10, the foreign policy office of the country held a press conference on the events planned for the 300th anniversary of Magtymguly Pyragy, in particular, international conferences, the opening ceremony of the "Magtymguly Pyragy" cultural-park complex in the capital.

During the meeting with the Special Representative of the European Union for Central Asia, Mrs. Teri Hakala, on May 13, the possibility of further development of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the European Union was discussed. Relations in environmental protection, "green" and digital reforms, education, energy, transport and logistics sectors were highlighted as promising areas.

On the same day, a meeting was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with members of the Japanese parliamentary delegation led by Endo Toshiaki, head of the Japanese-Turkmen parliamentary friendship group. During the meeting, issues of development of bilateral cooperation in political-diplomatic, trade-economic, cultural-humanitarian spheres were discussed.

On May 14, the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the People's Council of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov met with the leader of the Turkmen-Austrian community, Neda Berger. During the meeting, the guest was sincerely thanked for his efforts to bring our countries closer together, to strengthen the bridges of friendship and cooperation.

On the same day, at the meeting "30th anniversary of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the European Union: joint work for the future" held at the foreign policy office of the country, it was emphasized that the traditional relations between our country and the EU are being successfully developed based on the principles of mutual trust and openness.

On May 14, the delegation of Turkmenistan took part in the meeting at the level of deputy foreign ministers of the countries participating in the "Central Asia-Japan" dialogue held in Astana. During the meeting, urgent issues of cooperation between Central Asian countries and Japan in the political-diplomatic, trade-economic, cultural-humanitarian fields were discussed.

During the meeting with representatives of the International Labor Organization held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on May 14, issues of further expansion of cooperation and establishment of dialogues on a systemic basis were discussed.

On May 15-16, an international exhibition of modern technologies of food production was held in the exhibition hall of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry. This review not only describes the achievements of our country in the agricultural sector, but also reveals the enormous potential of the business structures active in this sector.
