Reconstruction of Serhetabat Customs Post Underway in Turkmenistan

A large-scale reconstruction of the ‘Serhetabat’ customs post, supervised by the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan, has begun on the Turkmen-Afghan border. This project is of strategic importance, as "Serhetabat" is a key link in the country's foreign trade turnover and a key hub for international transit corridors, including the "Lazurite" Route.

The project, will be implemented by the ‘Sapaly geljek’ business entity between 2025 and 2027, envisions a comprehensive modernization. Plans include not only renovating the existing building but also constructing several new, modern structures.

A key element of the reconstruction will be the installation of a new X-ray vehicle inspection machine.

As a result of the modernization, the customs post's design capacity will increase to 500 vehicles per day, 2.5 times higher than its current capacity. This will significantly optimize logistics processes and strengthen Turkmenistan’s transit potential.
