Towards new heights of development

Last week's events were another clear evidence of the successful implementation of the scientifically based reform strategy led by President Serdar Berdimuhamedov to improve the industrial, financial, labor and intellectual capacity of the Motherland and to activate effective cooperation with all interested countries.

On June 10, the Turkmen leader Serdar Berdimuhamedov held a business meeting through the digital network. Reports on the progress of seasonal agricultural work in the country were heard. Special attention was paid to the importance of timely harvesting of grain crops grown by hard-working farmers, without losses, and care of cotton fields in accordance with the norms of agrotechnics.

On June 10, during the two-day state visit of the leader of the Republic of Korea to our country, high-level talks were held between Presidents Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Yun Seok-yol. The Heads of the two countries discussed a wide range of issues of intergovernmental relations and clarified the priorities of cooperation, taking into account the current situation and the long-term future. The interlocutors confirmed their commitment to the further development of large-scale cooperation between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Korea, and highlighted trade and economy, transport, energy systems, high technologies and many other sectors as priority areas.

During the talks, opinions were exchanged on a number of urgent issues of regional and international policy of mutual interest. Special attention was paid to the fact that inter-parliamentary relations are an integral part of intergovernmental cooperation. This year, it is planned to hold the second meeting of the parliamentary leaders of the Central Asian countries and the Republic of Korea in Ashgabat.

Korean companies have expressed their interest in implementing the Ashgabat-city project. Within the framework of this large project, it is planned to build modern residential buildings, transport infrastructure, ecological zones, and modern recreation centers. It was noted that solving problems related to climate change and environmental protection is one of the most promising areas of bilateral cooperation. It was said that there are great opportunities for cooperation in information technologies and artificial intelligence, telecommunications, and space systems. Cultural-humanitarian system, science and education, health care, sports, and tourism were also mentioned as important areas of cooperation.

Within the framework of the "Korea-Silk Road" (K-Silk Road) cooperation initiative, preparations were approved to support the expansion of relations between Central Asian countries and the Republic of Korea. According to the results of the negotiations, a large set of bilateral documents aimed at deepening mutually advantageous cooperation and enriching its meaning was signed.

On June 11, during the meeting of the National Leader of the Turkmen people, the Chairman of the People's Council of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, with the President of the Republic of Korea, Yoon Sok Yol, the possibilities of developing effective Turkmen-Korean cooperation, enriching it with new meaning in accordance with the requirements of today's times were considered. The issues of cooperation in the trade and economic system were discussed at the meeting held in the form of a business conference with the participation of members of the delegations of the two countries.

On that day, a Turkmen-Korean business conference was held in the capital with the participation of our Heroic Friend Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and the President of the Republic of Korea Yun Seok-yol. Speaking at the meeting, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan said that so far there are 14 investment projects with the participation of Korean companies in the country with a total value of more than 11 billion US dollars. Among them are projects related to the construction and modernization of oil and gas industry facilities, the purchase of vehicles, and the construction of cargo ships.

Development of trade, economic and investment cooperation between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Korea formed the main content of the discussions. Introduction of oil and gas chemistry, energy, transport and communication, logistics, shipbuilding, industry, construction, infrastructure, agriculture, ecologically clean technologies have been identified as promising areas of cooperation. There are also vast opportunities to significantly increase the volume of mutual trade. After the conclusion of the business conference, the issues of Turkmen-Korean cooperation in sectors were discussed in more detail in the meetings held between the representatives of the two countries' co-operative structures.
