Presidents of Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan Discuss Joint Projects in Industry, Energy

On September 22, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov held a telephone conversation with President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev. The leaders discussed plans to increase bilateral trade and promote joint projects in industry and energy.

The Uzbek leader congratulated President Berdimuhamedov on his birthday, extending wishes of good health, well-being and continued prosperity to the people of Turkmenistan, according to the Uzbek president's press office.

The two sides highlighted the progress in political dialogue and the strengthening of interagency cooperation, reaffirming their commitment to enhancing good neighborly relations and strategic partnership.

Construction of the Shavat–Dashoguz border trade zone is nearing completion. The two countries also plan to hold a Regional forum, a specialized exhibition, and the Days of Culture and Cinema of Turkmenistan in Uzbekistan.

The presidents also agreed on the schedule for upcoming high-level meetings and exchanged views on key issues of the regional agenda.

At the end of the conversation, President Mirziyoyev reiterated his congratulations to President Berdimuhamedov and the people of Turkmenistan on the upcoming Independence Day.
