Turkmenistan Launches Nationwide Cotton Harvest Campaign

Turkmenistan began its annual cotton harvest on September 10, with picking operations starting simultaneously across all regions of the country. The campaign holds significant importance for both the agricultural sector and the national economy, according to official state media.

As is tradition, the harvest season was ceremonially launched by respected elders, who offered prayers for the well-being of the nation and its people. The symbolic start was marked with the phrase "Bismillah!".

The use of modern technologies and innovations in agriculture ensures the production of high-quality cotton fiber, which serves as the main raw material for the textile industry. Turkmen cotton continues to enjoy stable demand in international markets, the report noted.

Cotton cultivation remains a key segment of Turkmenistan's agro-industrial complex, contributing to import substitution initiatives and strengthening the country’s export potential. Favorable climatic conditions allow for the successful cultivation of both medium- and fine-fiber cotton varieties.

To boost cotton production, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov signed a decree in November last year, instructing the Ministry of Agriculture, the Türkmenpagta State Concern, and regional administrations to ensure the fulfillment of targeted harvest volumes for the 2025 season.
