Guterres Commends Turkmenistan’s Role in Hosting LLDC3 Conference in Avaza

United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres has expressed his gratitude to President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov for his effective leadership in organizing the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDC3), held in Avaza from August 5 to 8, 2025. The message was reported by Turkmenistan’s official media on Wednesday.

Guterres noted that Turkmenistan’s consistent policy, rooted in a commitment to peace and multilateral dialogue, created favorable conditions for the successful conduct of the forum. He emphasized that the conference brought together heads of state and government, representatives of international organizations, civil society, and media around a common agenda aimed at supporting sustainable development and enhancing the resilience of landlocked developing countries in the face of global challenges.

The Secretary-General also expressed appreciation for the hospitality extended to him and his delegation during their stay in Turkmenistan, and reaffirmed the UN’s readiness to work jointly on implementing the outcomes of the conference.

The LLDC3 Forum gathered heads of state and government, high-level officials from over 100 countries, representatives of nearly 50 international organizations, and more than 20 leading companies. Over 160 media representatives from around 40 countries traveled to Avaza to provide wide coverage of the significant event.
