Trade Turnover Between Turkmenistan, China’s Chongqing Province Increases by 193.3%

Trade turnover between Turkmenistan and Chongqing, a major metropolis in southwestern China, surged by 193.3% in the first seven months of 2025.

In value terms, bilateral trade reached 43.9 million yuan during the reporting period, Xinhua News Agency reported on Tuesday.

Overall, Chongqing’s foreign trade grew by 9.1% year-on-year from January to July, totaling 434.46 billion yuan. Among all developing markets, Central Asia recorded the fastest growth, outpacing Latin America, the Middle East, and Africa.

Chongqing is a key Chinese exporter of laptops, motorcycles, and mobile phones, ranking first, second, and fifth nationwide in export volume for these products.

In total, trade turnover between Turkmenistan and China amounted to $10.6 billion in 2024. The primary component of Turkmenistan’s exports to China is natural gas, delivered via pipelines.
